Where were you?

It has been FOREVER since I wrote on my blog. In a matter of fact it has been so long that I forgot not only my user name but also my password. After some trial and error I obviously have that information now and can start blogging once again. First I need to get rid of all the cyber dust bunnies I have collected over time on my blog. I would like to thank all of the clients that have ordered cakes from me and also apologize for not writing about them. I will try in the future to write a blog about the cakes that I have created and quite possibly what I was thinking about at the time the cake was being made. Thanks again for all the past, current and future business!

Back to the 80’s

Birthdays come once a year. Which means that each one needs to be more special than the next. That’s where I come in. Or at least try to. There is always the parties and the gifts, but what is the most important thing about birthdays besides the person who’s birthday it is? The birthday cake of course. That’s one thing that comes to mind any time someone mentions a birthday. Is there a cake? What’s on the cake? What kind of cake is it?   So I am pleased to be able to provide people with the cake that they always wanted for their birthday.

So it was Mike’s (my brother-in-law) birthday.. Although we (my sister and I)  wanted to surprise him with something special, we did not really know what to do. Mike is into so many things that picking one of them sounded easy… but what does he like more. That was tough. So we thought we would go back in to the 80’s and make a classic NES controller.

The cake itself is a chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache in the middle. The cake is decorated with buttercream and the buttons are made out of marshmallow fondant.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!!!!

Isn’t that precious…

Precious moments last a lifetime. My cakes don’t. This one is a three layer chocolate cake with chocolate ganache in between those layers. Decorated with buttercream and then more chocolate ganache around the cake.

How many carrots?

So carrot cake is yummy… Especially the one made by dessertsbyleo. The frosting is the best part of the cake. It is made out of butter, cream cheese, powder sugar and a hint of vanilla. But what happens when someone wants to decorate a carrot cake for a birthday?? Well you use the same frosting, add a little bit of color and check out the final result!!

Spider man, Spider man….

So I guess my first spiderman cake went so well that they wanted to order another one from me. But there was a challenge this time. To make it 3D… I said to myself that I can do this… Other people can do this… I am a pasty chef I know I can do this. I took on the challenge. Here is the result.

Home run…

So it’s my cousins 9th birthday today. He wants to be a professional baseball player. The one thing that he wanted from me was a baseball cake. Normally I would ask for details on what people want on their cake. He did not specify so I thought I would surprise.

The baseballs and the gloves are made out of white chocolate and decorated with chocolate as well. The grass is buttercream, and the sand is a ground up toasted sponge cake held t0gether by some buttercream.

Happy Birthday Alex!!!
